International Primary School Programme

Located in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, we are a small independent primary and middle school, offering a child-centred education with a strong emphasis on outdoor education, academic excellence, community, and student wellbeing. We cater for students aged 5–13.

The Bay of Plenty offers the perfect opportunity to get a taste of the real New Zealand lifestyle. The region is rich in Māori culture and offers endless outdoor experiences, stunning natural landscapes, beautiful beaches and native forests.

Our school is a rural school that provides a safe, welcoming environment where students and caregivers can enjoy a true sense of belonging while staying with a local host family.  International students recieve an immersive education that balances academic achievement with a variety of experiences outside the classroom.

International families choose Matahui School because it’s not your typical school. It’s a place where children climb trees, build respectful relationships (whanaungatanga) with their peers and teachers, celebrate diversity, and experience child-centred learning in a nurturing environment. Here, education is hands-on, inclusive, and deeply connected to nature.

Our international student programme provides a rich cultural experience. If you’re looking for a short-term study abroad experience or a long-term educational journey, Matahui School offers an unforgettable opportunity where your child will thrive.
